Alex Kennison, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I firmly believe that people begin counseling services with the hopes of no longer needing them. We all would rather have the skills, tools, and supports needed to manage the difficulties that life throws at us. But there are times in everyone’s lives when the stress becomes overwhelming, and we need help finding the way forward. As a clinician, I see myself as a collaborator. Someone that can help provide clarity and be the sounding board clients need in order to make positive changes in their lives, relationships, and futures.

My Approach & Values

With years of experience in a variety of clinical settings, I’ve developed a range of skills and expertise to help you tackle a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, communication issues, stress management, co-dependency, relationship issues, separation/divorce, and PTSD.

In therapy, I use a range of evidence-based techniques to help you achieve your goals including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive ones, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process traumatic experiences and reduce their impact on your daily life, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to help you focus on your strengths and find solutions to your problems, and Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy to help you improve communication, deepen intimacy, and strengthen your connection with your partner. Regardless of the approach, I’m here to listen and support you on your journey.
